The Daily Question

Who taught you to do something
you still do their way?

Watch yourself for a day and you will catch them everywhere.

The way you fold a towel. How you peel a potato. The order you lock up the house at night. How you set a fire, tie a knot, wrap a present, or check the oil.

Somebody stood beside you once and showed you, probably without making much of it. You have done it their way ever since, long after you stopped thinking about who it was.

Some of the people we carry with us most are carried in our hands.

So — who taught you to do something you still do their way?
