The Daily Question

Who did you have completely wrong?

You had somebody's number early. The quiet one who was rude. The loud one who was all front. The neighbour who kept himself to himself and clearly thought he was better than the street.

Then something happened — a bad week, a job you were put on together, a lift home in the rain — and the picture turned out to be a poor likeness. Not a small correction. The whole thing wrong.

Most of us can name one or two. They stay with us, and not only because of how the person turned out. They stay because of what they suggest about all the other judgements we have never had to revise.

So — who did you have completely wrong, and what changed it?
