What rule did your family have that you thought everyone had?
Every house runs to its own laws, and you do not find out they were local until you leave.
Shoes off at the door, or never. The good scissors that were not for paper. Nobody starts until everyone is sitting down. The Sunday afternoon that was not to be filled with anything.
You still keep one or two of them, and you would struggle to say why.
