What are you good at
that has never been any use?

Everybody has one, and hardly anybody ever gets asked about it.

You can whistle properly. You can reverse a trailer first time. You can get a fire going in the rain. You know the words to a hundred songs you would never have chosen. You can tell who is coming up the stairs by the sound of them. You can plait hair, or throw a dart, or name every car your family ever had.

None of it has earned you a penny. It does not go on a form. It comes out at a wedding or on a long drive, gets a laugh, and goes back in the drawer until the next time.

It is yours in a way the useful things are not. Nobody trained you into it, nobody is paying for it, and you would still do it exactly as well if no one ever watched again.
