The Quiet Hour

Waiting is work too.
No wonder you are tired.

Some days the main thing you did was wait. For a phone call. For results. For a reply that has not come, a decision somebody else is making, a person who is not home yet.

Nobody counts it as work. There is nothing to show for it at the end of the day. But it is tiring, holding yourself ready for hours, picking the phone up to check, putting it down again.

Some of the oldest prayers ever written are simply people asking how long. Nobody thought less of them for it, and nobody need think less of you.

If you are waiting on something tonight, you have done a full day's work already. Whatever it is, you do not have to meet it before it arrives.

Say something about this A quiet box on the front page that listens. It is a machine, and it says so.

This page is not help, and I am not qualified to give it.

If you are struggling, please ring one of these. Both are better at it than anything on the internet, this page included.

This one is on being tired. There are three others.
