The Middle of the Day
The badly written letter
still arrives.
There is something you have not done because you cannot do it well.
The note to somebody who has had bad news. The message to a friend you have left too long, where anything you write now has to account for the gap. The apology you keep rewriting in your head because none of the versions are good enough yet.
So it does not get sent. Which leaves the other person with nothing at all — the one outcome you were trying to avoid.
The badly written letter still arrives. The clumsy message still says somebody thought of you. Nobody on the receiving end has ever graded the prose.
Send the poor version of it before the afternoon is out.
This page is not help, and I am not qualified to give it.
If you are struggling, please ring one of these. Both are better at it than anything on the internet, this page included.
This one is on work. There are three others.
