The Middle of the Day

Rest is not a wage you have to earn.

There is a rule most of us picked up without ever being taught it. Rest comes after. Finish the list, clear the desk, get on top of the week, and then you are allowed to sit down.

The trouble is that the list does not finish. There is always one more thing, so sitting down keeps getting moved, and by the time it happens you are too far gone to get anything from it.

Rest is not a wage. It is not paid out for work completed. It is part of how the work gets done at all, the same way sleep is, or food.

Sit down for twenty minutes this afternoon with the list unfinished. It will still be unfinished afterwards, and you will be in better shape to look at it.

This page is not help, and I am not qualified to give it.

If you are struggling, please ring one of these. Both are better at it than anything on the internet, this page included.

This one is on being tired. There are two others.
