The Daily Pause
A comma, not a full stop — the breath inside the sentence rather than the end of it.

What did a stranger once do for you
that they will never know mattered?
Some of the people who helped you most will never know they did.
The woman on the train who gave up her seat when you could barely stand. The man who ran after you with the wallet you had dropped. The nurse who stayed five minutes longer than she needed to. Someone at a counter who said one kind word on the worst day of your year, then went home and forgot all about it.
They walked on and never found out what it meant. But you remember.
So — what did a stranger once do for you that they will never know mattered?

Who this is
I’m Andrew. A husband, a father, and a funeral director in Belfast.
I also have days I find hard — my mood, my head, and some days just life. Most of them look perfectly ordinary from the outside.
I started this because what helped me on those days was almost never advice. It was one honest sentence at the right moment, or being asked something worth thinking about by someone who actually wanted to hear the answer.
That is all this is trying to be. It is for everyone — whatever you believe, and whatever kind of week you are having.
One thing worth saying plainly. I set what this page is — the voice, the rules, the things it will never do. The three pieces are written to that every morning by a machine, and every quotation is checked before it goes anywhere. Nothing goes out that I would not put my name to.
No judgement. Just love.

The Daily Pause
365 days to pause, reflect and grow
One short page for every day of the year: a line to carry with you, a few honest paragraphs, a question to sit with and one small thing to try. An ebook first, for phone, tablet or computer.
It exists because some days you want the pause without the scroll.
